The almost 400 islands of the Hamina region offer visitors space, peaceful nature and idyllic boat harbours. There are several landing sites for private boats and scheduled ferry service in summertime from Tervasaari jetty to the islands of Tammio and Ulko-Tammio.

Natural harbours

The archipelago near Hamina and in the E. Gulf of Finland National Park has some beautiful natural harbours where boats are allowed to tie up, and several natural harbours in the Majasaari-Nuokot group of islands. Signs of quarrying can still be seen on Pitkä-Kotka, for in the 19th century stone was quarried here to build St Isaac’s Cathedral in St Petersburg.

There are natural harbours at, for instance:

  • Koivuluoto
  • Pikku-Musta
  • Suur-Pisi
  • Pitkä-Kotka
  • Majasaari-Nuokot, (several natural harbours)
